Little horse prints

After our short vacation I couldn't wait to get back out to my horses!
I rode Hot Rod for the first time in a couple of months which allowed Honey to exercise and me and Hot Rod to get back in touch!
After the ride Honey had another halter lesson which she quickly decided that meant the lead rope needed to be eaten and was much more fun that halter practice :)
I just adore my horses and feel so blessed to have them, little Honey is growing like a weed and is now almost 3 weeks old.

Weekend vacation soothes the soul

Robert and I spent 2 1/2 days in beautiful Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek Colorado, to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and to just get away for the weekend. We did some gambling and did very well! The craps table favored us this trip!

We also stayed at the haunted Grande Casino and Hotel, a few unexplained knocks and bangs but nothing else on this trip...

Some sight-seeing done in Cripple Creek and then a visit to Cave if the Winds turned this weekend into a romantic fun filled trip that made the routine days melt away and relieved so much stress, it was so wonderful to spend a weekend like this with my husband! I think in between our bigger trips we are going to start taking a few of these weekend trips, it truly heals the soul.

Weekend getaway to the mountains

Even if for just a couple days it was nice to camping in the Red River area of New Mexico with another couple, it was a wonderful weekend if fishing, hiking and good old drinking and cooking! The cabin at Sierra Bonita was perfect and was right across from the river and just down from the fish ponds.
Day one resulted in tiny rainbow trout not worth eating being caught and thrown back. So we feasted on steak, corn on the cob and baked potatoes and drinks galore that first night after hiking and playing in a local cave we found.
Day two more hiking in the beautiful woods and actually catching fish, good enough to have with dinner, and boy were they tasty!! More drinking at night and s'mores ended the evening, and the cool mountain air was the perfect scene for a night walk to the ponds in hopes of seeing wildlife.
We did having little hummingbirds at the cabin and saw a few critters but no elk, deer or bears... Just stupid antelopes who wanted to jump in front of the car lol
So here's to a great weekend spent with the live of my life and some great friends Brenda and Jeff :)
Now I'm home and ready to play with my baby girl Honey!
