It's not obsession...

No wait, it is! But with good reason I'm trying to collect my foals bloodline in pictures, hard since most are deceased but still it's a project that's coming along!

Of course there's the dam: hot rod (obviously a stepper)
Then the sire: breaker (heza art breaker)
Breakers sire: art of gold
And hot rods sire: booger ( keep the clue)

Special news !!!

While I'm still not battle ready I'm much better with only slight set backs in pain bothering me here and there; however the news that came with our trip to the vet:

Hot Rod is pregnant !!!! That certainly lifted my spirits and made my Christmas holiday even more special.

Now you may not understand why this is so amazing or special at all well let me tell you why it is...

A Long ago in a time far far away (hehe)...,

Hot rod is my almost 17 year old sorrel quarter horse mare, her mother was Lacy who I rode as a little girl and often took trips to the New Mexico pecos mountain range, and basically grew up on the back of that mare, in fact there are several occasions where lacy actually saved my life! About 4 years ago lacy passed away of old age, and I still miss her so much she was the most forgiving and understand mare who allowed a younger version of myself to even practice roman riding lol!

I was present for hot rods birth, she was a carbon copy of her mother in every way except she was darker sorrel and a little "hotter" hence " hot rod".

Hot rod didn't make it in a perfect world long, not even 3 months after her birth a pack of neighbor dogs that were allowed to roam free at the neighbors house ran her into a barbed wire fence took her down and began eating her flesh on her chest and front legs down into the muscle, tendon and vital tissue....
She was found in a pool of blood and the vet was called as she was barely clinging to life, he said the filly would never walk again, put her down.

After refusing not to try the filly was flipped side to side and held up to nurse multiple times, one day she was standing on her own - a miracle!!

15 years later she is finally my own and within 3 months the mare went from never being used to fully broke and helping me enjoy riding and horse ownership again!

2 years ago I decided that I had to try to get a foal to continue the line of horses that I love so dearly, with a beautiful palomino stud, Breaker a son of art of gold on the property, began my desire to begin breeding hot rod, the first year rendered no success.

Then 2012 I began in feb breeding her again, my may still nothing and she was not taking or settling.
On July 22 2012 she was bred for the last time because I decided it wasn't meant to be.
In August the stallion suffered severe colic and passed away :(

November came and so did that nagging feeling that I had to try one more time for a foal! So plans were made to breed hot rod to a new stallion in 2013, but I wanted the vet to double check her condition to ensure she would be safe as possible due to her age and never having a live foal.
As she aborted an almost full term buckskin filly about 9 years ago due to catching rhino flu from some boarders horses :(

The vet began his exam as I told him every detail and asked every question that I could think of that might help make my dream come true...

He began an ultrasound and asked me to look at the screen..

THERE IT WAS!!!!! The most perfect little horse head I've ever seen! I broke down in tears of joy and squeals of excitement , it didn't even feel real!

He said she must have taken during the July breeding meaning were about 5 months in!!!

So now I'm getting everything ready for the most special foal to ever hit the ground, I talk to the foal while groom hot rod, I just can't wait to meet the little one, that foal has no idea how much love is ready waiting on him/her!

So here are some 5 month baby belly pics plus my little sister Sarah exercising hot rod so she doesn't lose her figure while carrying baby!

More updates will come, we are so excited for our new arrival!

Cats!

Random cat post
I just love milo and odis so much, they make being stuck at home rewarding and a lot less painful, especially Odie since he watches my every move to make sure I'm ok and that he gets pets, milo want to make sure I don't die so he gets fed - everyone wins :)

So heading to bed but wanting to share my little fluff balls with you :)

Choosing a stallion

Ok so I have 2 stallions that I'm thinking Of to breed with my mare this coming year. Hot Rod is a foundation Quarter horse with links back to King, Leo, two eyed jack and several other foundation quarter horses. She's a dark Sorrel with a little white on her face and stands about 15.3. She has the best temperament and intelligent mind you can ask for an is willing to do anything I ask, Which I hope she would pass to the foal.

The first stallion is Gilligan (skippers reward). He's a bay Appaloosa with a small blanket he stands about 15.2. While shorter than what I'm looking for his Movement and beauty make up for his height. Gilligans bloodlines traced back to QH Skipper W, poco Bueno, King, Wimpy and Thoroughbreds such as man-o-war and three bars.

The next stallion is shiner (shiner buck). Shiners a White leopardprint Appaloosa standing 16 hands. Shiners bloodlines trace back to Thoroughbreds man-o-war three bars, war Admiral. and quarter horses such as traveler, little Joe and skipper w. Shiner has the elegance grace that I'm looking for however he's more likely to throw a colored foal.

The question is do I pick the elegance and height or the better confirmation also it's a choice of color if I'd like to have a colored foal shiners the better choice if color really isn't an issue then Gillian is probably the better choice. Both horses are nice movers And both Have sires and dams ahead of them who have produced Well in the show ring.

I'd like to show the foal in halter as a yearling and maybe weanling and as the horse becomes to riding age I want to take in the English classes like Huntseat Cross rails maybe some jumping pleasure and hopefully someday Cross country and eventing. This makes me think the horse that's taller might be the better decision Plus with shiners heavy thoroughbred background he would make an excellent eventer if the foal came out well, And I'm not too picky I be very happy with a colt or a filly.

I guess it's back to the tables to decide

Horseball

If you have not heard of this sport, like me about 5 hours ago...then OMG I realized I MUST play this game and find other people crazy enough to do so, since it is mostly a european sport I also MUST find a way to make it more popular in the USA so that I can play it. :)
So I might be somewhat crazy about it for a while because Im so amused and excited... yay!

Body issues :/
A week ago I was placed in the hospital for extreme abdominal pain and found out that an ovarian cyst almost the size of a soft ball had grown in my left ovary...yea no wonder I felt like I was going to die, so surgery was performed the night I went into the ER, while I am still recovering I feel much better and hope to be back to normal very soon, Ive become so active that sitting around has been a huge pain and very boring, but I understand that I must do it in order to heal.

______________________________________________________________________________

Other than a few things my life has been going great and Im always making plans to do something, I just cant sit around (unless ordered by a doctor) so Im enrolled in college for the first time and will start the road to my degree in Geology, and Geo Sciences...a dream I have had for years and years, and honestly thought that it would never be a reality for me so to say the least IM EXCITED!!!
Finally I will be able to work in my dream field and be able to make an excellent living for Robert and I...hard work and dedication pay off and I fully intend to work my butt off for what I want.

More blog posts should come since I want to keep up with it better...
Oh and I dyed my hair darker again with a hint of red and trimmed it up so its healthy and pretty again, I love the color and will probably keep it for a while, Ive always wanted to try a dark auburn and I pull it off even better than I thought I would...yay.
